2. Recruiters 101 – Who are these people, and why should I care? (Video)
There are different types of recruiters.
We’ve got independent ones with the agencies in house, we’ve got hiring managers, and we have contract people speak people specialize in contracts.
We have people who specialize in permanent full time positions.
We have people who specialize in certain sectors, biotech, pharma, high tech Information Technology, hardware, software, all of that.
They specialize in healthcare, they specialize in those areas.
There are also in-house recruiters versus agencies.
And then on top of that, then you have the hiring managers, who are the folks who ultimately you’re going to be talking to.
Recruiters are always reaching out to people, they’re always reaching out. They’re always putting feelers out in the market reaching out to job candidates potential or existing, and they’re checking to see if you’re interested in that position.
So should you talk to them or not? Well, here’s a hint.
Yes, you should.
Because you never know what’s going to happen.
And you can, and there’s nothing like getting completely caught unawares, with industry trends that are changing behind your back, when you’re very happily plugging away at a job that is perfectly fine for you and that you see no reason to leave.
